Taiwanese porridge buffet Orchard Grand Court ( www.ogc.com.sg), 131 Killiney Rd. A few streets behind Somerset MRT station, at the junction between Lloyd Rd and Killiney Rd. There's a BP petrol station opposite the building. Wouldn't have thought one can find value-for-money food in the shopping belt. There are 20 or so items including various types of stewed pork, pork knuckles, stewed vegetables, sea bass fillet, varous types of vegetables, fruits, etc. Plus great "tao sua" desserts, coffee and tea. All for only $8.80+++ (in total about $10 a head). For this kind of price, you get hotel-style service with great ambience (after all, it is part of a hotel-styled service apartment's facilities), multiple plate changes, etc. Not bad at all. It opens for both lunch and dinner daily ($10.80+++ for weekend dinners). There is also hi-tea but the place is deserted during this hour, and the food selection is so so. Cost $6.80+++ The restaurant also has ala carte Asian and Western dishes as well. Heard that it gets very crowded on Sundays. There are free URA parking lots along Killiney Rd after 5pm and on Sundays and public holidays.
